TALKS about architecture – Francesca Torzo
On January 16, AIR will organize another TALKS about architecture in collaboration with Robert-Jan de Kort Architecture. We welcome an inspiring, international architect to the stage in Rotterdam: Francesca Torzo (Genoa, Italy). TALKS about architecture focuses on architecture as an artistic discipline.
Francesca Torzo (Padova, 1975) studied at TU Delft, ETSAB Barcelona, AAM Mendrisio, and IUAV Venice, graduating with honors in 2001. She developed an experimental dry stone construction with Conzett in 2001 and worked at Peter Zumthor’s studio (2001–2002) and Bosshard Vaquer Architekten (2003). In 2008, she founded her office in Genoa.
Her teaching career includes positions at AAM Mendrisio (2009–2017, 2020–2024) and Bergen Arkitekthøgskole (2017–2021).
In 2018, she participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale, FREESPACE, and chaired the Maarten Van Severen Foundation. Her Z33 House for Contemporary Art in Hasselt won the 2018 Piranesi Award and was a finalist for the 2022 Mies van der Rohe Award.
